Snack Ideas for Preschoolers

Overview

Preschool-age children tend to go through phases of picky eating. Don't force your child to eat. Instead, try to offer a variety of fun, nutritious choices.

Try these creative snack ideas. Your child may enjoy them even more if you let your child make them.

  • Ants on a log. Fill a celery stick with peanut butter. Sprinkle raisins on top.
  • Pretzel pops. Put a cube of cheese on a pretzel stick.
  • Mini pizza. Halve an English muffin, spread pizza sauce on top, and sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 350°F (177°C) until cheese melts.
  • Bagel bites. Slice flavored bagels thin, like coins, and place on a baking sheet. Spray them lightly with olive oil. Bake at 400°F (204°C) for 10 minutes.
  • Fruit milkshake. Blend together ½ cup strawberry or vanilla yogurt, ½ cup frozen strawberries (without added sugar), and 1 teaspoon lemon juice.
